Early Fall Viewership Numbers
Early numbers for the fall programming are in and it looks promising, if you’re a cable network.
Broadcast viewership is off to a slow start in comparison to last year’s numbers. Overall the first two weeks of the fall TV season daily average saw a decrease of adults under 50 watching. Down to 14.3 million or 4.1% less than last year. This was based on the 4 most watched broadcast networks.
Cable on the other hand saw its first two weeks of the fall season spike in viewers with 22.1 million in the adults 18-49 segment. That is up 4% from last year.
Nielsen plans to release more on these numbers soon but early indications show that ratings for some shows jump more than a quarter when factoring in time shifted viewing when counting three days of recorded viewing on a DVR.
