In Our Own Words

Louisiana Gets Its Own Pandora.com Station

If a girl can get to a man’s heart through his stomach then why can’t we get you to Louisiana through your ears? As the media planning and buying agency for the Louisiana Office of Tourism, Morgan + Company is responsible for coming up with the best media strategy to reach prospective travelers for the State. To us that means finding ways to integrate Louisiana into the audience’s every day lives. Accordingly for the Office of Tourism’s fall campaign, Damien LaManna, our Director of Digital Media, did something a little more progressive in communication planning — collaborating with Pandora.com to create my new favorite radio station, the Louisiana Music Channel. Featuring over 3,200 songs from over 50 Louisiana artists, the Pandora Louisiana Music Channel provides a soundtrack that would compel any music fan to take a trip down to the bayou to hear an authentic Cajun zydeco band or over to New Orleans to take in the sounds of Frenchmen Street. Embracing Louisiana’s history of great music, the station includes works from early music legends like Jelly Roll Morton, arguably one of the greatest jazz pianists of his time, to the modern day funk band Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. A non-traditional approach to the usual website banner ads, the Pandora station uses digital advertising in a way that celebrates an aspect of Louisiana culture that can only truly be embraced through sound.
