From Russia With Love
post by: Eric Morgan
We all know that the creative folks get all the attention and awards. I guess its a tangible thing – you can “touch and feel” the ads as opposed to a communication plan. I’ve come to accept that as a media guy we take the back seat in the spotlight.
But every now and then its nice to see that our hard work as media planners and buyers gets noticed. And this time our work was picked up by of all things a Russian publication. In 2007 we worked with the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau to promote the city as a viable location to host meetings and events. Trumpet Advertising designed the creative artwork. The objective was to convince the business decision makers that even though Hurricane Katrina had taken a toll on the city, as a meeting destination, everything was ok. After an extensive research and profiling process we determined that unique points of contact revolving around business travel would be most applicable and relevant. So with a little digging we discovered an opportunity to put ads on all of the tray tables of 35 domestic airplanes in the U.S. Very cool and very successful according to deplaning surveys. Now somehow a Russian publication got a hold of the initiative and is now doing a profile on it. So, if you are fluent in Russian, check out www.outdoormedia.ru. Or click here to get a visual of the piece they are working on.
